01The Challenge
OptiPour is a bottle-based wine billing system for restaurants — weigh the bottle out, weigh it back, charge for exactly what the guest drank. We built the product end to end: load-cell hardware and Raspberry Pi controller, the touchscreen server workflow, and the backend that turns weight deltas into a priced tab.
02What We Did
- Precision load-cell scale interface and calibration — start weight, end weight, consumed ounces, price
- Touchscreen point-of-service UI for servers: new bottle, table assignment, return, close out
- Tab model built per bottle rather than per table, so one table can run several open bottles
- Power system, PWM LED indicator circuit, and wiring/assembly documentation
- Over-the-air update path with a reliability test plan, plus a manufacturing plan and full BOM
- Custom PCB path to move the device off breakout modules onto a manufacturable board
