Would That Home Run Have Left All 30 Parks?

donged case study - Would That Home Run Have Left All 30 Parks? | Sports / Consumer App MVP Development

Ballparks do not agree on what counts as a home run — the same batted ball clears the wall in one park and dies on the warning track in another. donged takes any MLB home run and scores it against all 30 parks, so you can see exactly how many of them it would have left. Built end to end: the scoring model, the API, and the apps in front of it.

  • Scoring model built on per-park wall profiles sampled across the outfield and interpolated by spray angle, then compared against each hit’s distance
  • Node.js + Express API over MongoDB serving stadiums, home runs, and the computed per-park result for each one
  • Flutter client (web today, built to ship on iOS and Android) plus the Next.js web app at woulditdong.com
  • Home-run feed with player search, team filter, and sorting by distance, exit velocity, or date
  • Docker Compose dev stack with hot reload and a seeded database, and an API test suite that runs in or out of the container
