From Idea to MVP, in Weeks Not Months
Charlotte engineers who turn your startup idea into a production-ready MVP that attracts users and investors. Work directly with the senior engineer building it.
MVP development in Charlotte, NC
An MVP is not a cheap version of your product. It is the smallest thing you can put in front of a real user that answers one question: will anyone actually pay for this? Everything that does not help answer that question belongs in v2, and the fastest way to burn a first budget is to build v2 first.
We are based in Charlotte and we build that first version for early-stage founders — usually a web app in Next.js and Postgres, or a mobile app in Flutter when the product lives on a phone. You work directly with the senior engineer writing the code. There is no account manager translating your requirements into a ticket and back again, which is where most of the cost and most of the misunderstandings in agency work actually come from.
Most of our MVPs ship in 4 to 12 weeks and start at $10,000, with first builds typically landing between $10,000 and $25,000 depending on how much has to work on day one. We publish a line-by-line breakdown of where those hours actually go, because “starting at” a number is not something anyone can plan a budget around.
Being local matters more than it sounds. Same time zone means a question asked at 9am is answered by 10am, not overnight. It means we can sit down in person when a decision is worth an hour of whiteboard instead of a week of Slack. And it means there is a real company in Charlotte, NC accountable for the result — not a contractor who goes quiet in week three.

How a Charlotte MVP build actually runs
- 01
Discovery call
Week 0 · free, 45 minutes
We work out what the product has to prove and who has to believe it. You leave with a scoped feature list and a real number, whether or not you hire us. If the honest answer is that you do not need a custom build yet, we will say so.
- 02
Scope and estimate
Week 0–1
Every feature is sorted into MVP or v2, in writing, before anyone opens an editor, and you get an hourly estimate against that list plus a weekly cap. When week two teaches us something, we move hours to what matters instead of opening a scope argument.
- 03
Architecture and data model
Week 1
The schema, the auth model, and the third-party integrations get decided first. This is the part that is expensive to change later and nearly free to get right up front — most rewrites we get called in to fix trace back to a data model that was never designed.
- 04
Build in visible slices
Weeks 2–8
Work ships to a staging URL continuously, not in one reveal at the end. You click through real screens every week and redirect early, while redirecting is still cheap.
- 05
QA, launch, and handover
Final 1–2 weeks
Test coverage on the paths that carry money and data, error monitoring wired up, analytics in place, and release to the web or to the App Store and Google Play. You get the repository, the accounts, and the documentation. You own all of it.
- 06
After launch
Ongoing, optional
Keep iterating with us, bring the work in-house, or keep us on as a fractional CTO for the senior calls. There is no lock-in — you already own the code and the roadmap.
What an MVP costs in Charlotte
Hourly billing against a weekly cap, so you see the work before you pay for it. These are the ranges projects in each band typically run — and below, what the number is actually buying.

- Analytics, error monitoring, and QA
- App Store and Google Play release

- Multi-tenant or role-heavy data model
- Third-party and API integrations
- Custom design system
- Test suite and handover documentation
Platform build
Multi-surface products with real operational complexity, built over a longer engagement.

- Complex integrations and data pipelines
- Role-based access and audit requirements
- Performance and scale work built in
- Ongoing fractional CTO support
You are billed for hours actually worked, against a weekly cap you set, with the backlog visible the whole time. A fixed bid would mean pricing our uncertainty into your invoice up front — you would pay for that risk whether or not it ever showed up.
What you are actually paying for
A small team, on purpose
A large agency carries a large payroll, and a large payroll has to stay billable. That is how three or four people end up assigned to a build that needed one or two — not because the work called for it, but because the bench had to be utilized. Every extra person is another hand-off, another opinion, and another week. We staff to what the product needs.
No translation layer
No account manager translating your idea into a ticket and translating the answer back. When you ask a question you get it answered by the engineer who made the decision, usually the same day. Most of what goes wrong on a build goes wrong in that translation layer, and the cheapest way to fix it is to not have one.
We learn the product, not just the ticket
We ask what the business actually has to prove and why, because the right build is a judgment call and you cannot make it from a spec alone. That means we push back when a feature will not earn its cost, and flag the thing you have not thought about yet. A team billing by the head has no reason to do either.
Speed comes from fewer people
An MVP is a straightforward problem that gets complicated by the number of people touching it. Fewer people means fewer meetings, fewer hand-offs, and decisions made in an afternoon instead of a sprint. That is why we ship in weeks while a bigger shop quotes months for the same scope.
Questions, answered
How long does an MVP take?
Most MVPs ship in 4 to 12 weeks depending on scope. We focus on the core features that prove the product and get you in front of users and investors fast.
Web app or mobile app?
Both. We build web apps, and native-quality mobile apps with Flutter. We help you pick the right platform for how your users actually behave.
What happens after launch?
We can keep iterating with you, add features, or step back to a fractional CTO role. You own the code and the roadmap either way.
What does an MVP cost?
First builds start at $10,000 and typically land between $10,000 and $25,000. Billing is hourly against a weekly cap you set, so you watch the work land each week and pay for hours actually worked.
