Duskdial is an app made by haynes lab LLC ("we"). This page explains what the app does with your information. The short version: Duskdial does not collect anything. It plays sound and keeps a few notes on your own device.
What the app stores, and where
Everything below is stored only on your phone, inside the app's private storage:
- Saved mixes: the name you give each mix and the sound levels in it.
- Playback log: for each of the last 14 nights (older nights are deleted automatically), when sound started and stopped, why it stopped (for example your timer ended or you pressed Stop), and any interruptions such as a phone call or headphones disconnecting.
- Settings: theme, the mix that is currently loaded, your last timer and similar preferences.
During an explicitly enabled test, additional playback diagnostics can be stored locally, including timing, sound levels and device/software versions. Test tools can also save the app-generated audio output. These files stay on the device unless the tester chooses to copy them. They are never sent automatically and never contain microphone recordings. Normal use does not create audio recordings.
What leaves your device
Duskdial does not transmit data to us.
- Duskdial makes no network connections and works in airplane mode. There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics.
- This version has no crash-reporting service or "Send crash reports" switch.
- If you open the privacy policy or terms from inside the app, the page opens in your web browser and loads from our website like any other visit.
- Your device's own backup (iCloud or Google backup), if turned on, may include the app's data. That backup is controlled by Apple or Google and your settings, not by us.
We never sell, share or receive your data, because we never have it.
Permissions
- Background audio (iPhone) and a media playback service (Android): so sound keeps playing with the screen locked. On Android you will see a media notification with Pause and Stop while it plays. Playback stops when you stop it, when your timer ends, or after 10 minutes paused.
- Next alarm (Android only): to suggest a wake time for the "Until wake time" timer, the app asks Android for the time of your next alarm. This needs no permission, is read only when you open the timer, and is kept only as your timer's end time.
- Duskdial does not use your microphone, location, contacts, camera, photos or health data.
How to delete your data
- Delete a saved mix from the Mixes screen.
- Clear the playback log from Settings > Playback log > Clear log.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from the device.
Children
Duskdial is meant for adults, including parents who play sound in a child's room. It does not collect personal information from anyone.
Changes
If a future version changes what is described here, we will update this page and its effective date before that version is released.
